In the movie, “Soylent Green”, the elderly are harvested into soylent green —a protein source that feeds the dystopian human society. Unaware of how Soylent is made, humans crave this new source of food. They are addicted to it. Only the wealthy know the secret of “Soylent Green '', which is made of human flesh. Metaphorically,  food represents wealth and status. The rich eat real food which is rare to find. The real food includes meat, veggies and fruits. In contrast, the everyday people eat soylent green which is cheap and easy to access because it is made up of the flesh of elderly people. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The profit soylent makes from the poor people goes to partners of the wealthy. They used the money to get whatever they want.
Food also represents life because we need food to survive. As people die more food can be created from their bodies. Without death, there would be no life. “Soylent Green” is a science fiction film that expresses to the audience that in the year of 2022 our society and population  are low in supplies and desperate for food. Soylent green is taking advantage of the lack of order to create food for the poor. In the movie, Detective Thorn discovered the crime that soylent green is using the elders' bodies to produce food. Detective Thorn wants to tell the truth because without rules and laws as humans we have no pathway. 

If I were in a similar situation, I would do as the detective did and solve the case to allow the public to know where their source of protein is coming from. So that everyone will have an action in the year of 2022 to gain power to self-esteem to lead themselves as a citizen in New York. Laurel Fosrster states in her “Futuristic Foodways'' essay,``This deception of a hungry general public into a reworked cannibalism is depicted as symptomatic of a corrupt and divided society.” ( pp254) I would figure out a way to choose the correct solutions for my people who are struggling in my own town or city and will finish my job as a detective the same as Detective Thorn. I will sacrifice my life to choose the right way. If I died, I know I did it the right way.

Dr. McNichols, during her guest lecture on Like Water for Chocolate , discusses the  history of Mexico and Spain as it relates to traditions depicted in the book. During the film, two characters fall in love with each other, but their love creates a conflict between their families . Dr. McNichols helped explain where these traditions came from, and why they played such an important role in the story.   This movie Like Water for Chocolate by Alfonso Arau is set in a Mexico Village, where two young characters fall in love. How does Sandra Nettelbeck, “Mostly Martha” represent love and romance in the film? The love and romance are similarities shown through a mystery storyline that audiences aren’t expecting to happen. The two characters develop deep feelings with each other and switch a piece of the storyline. The storyline made up of the four main roles are sound quantity, narrative, lighting, and cooking.   First, sound quantity plays an important role in this film through the background music. It expresses the character's emotions and body language.
