At the beginning of spring semester I was ready to start the classes strong including this course of Reel Food & World Cinema because I  wanted to gain experience in different departments on McDaniel requirements for the McDaniel plans. When the first week of classes were adapting into a new environment. In this course, I was unprepared to attend this class because it isn’t my “comfort zone”, but I know only the basics of film and the structure, but not the whole concept of Cinema. When the first week was finished, I had a drive to start this course strong to write the first blog entry. It will continue my ability to submit  the blog entries on time. Yet, I hit  a wall to stop me from continuing the blog effectively. It was during the middle of the semester where midterm was coming up soon. How does Big Night and Dinner Rush are similar and different? They are both food movies because they are serving food to people at their restaurants. Also, They are both serving Italian food dishes at the tables. The difference between both movies is the time of each movie because in Big Night is in the 1950s serving a traditional Italian dish in Jersey Shore. Dinner Rush is a modern time and they are serving non-traditional Italian food in Manhattan. The main similarities and differences are how food is prepared, served, and eaten in both movies?    How do both movies prepare their food? In Big Night by Stanley Tucci and Campbell Scott. This film is about two brothers who run an Italian restaurant in New Jersey during the 1950s. The two brothers are named Primo and Secondo, Primo is the older brother who has a talent for cooking and the very tradition of making Italian foods. Secondo is a young brother who is the manager of the restaurant. Their business is not going well as a rival Italian restaurant because the rival Italian restaurant is out-competing them. They are both in the same neighborhood. How does One Upon a Time When We Were Colored, and Soul Food transmits culture and constitutes ethnic identity? In both films, they are both African American films and the narration was the two young boys telling the whole story by their own experiences. In Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored and Soul Food, the narration was Cliff. The very same as in Soul Food, the narration was Ahmad. In Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored and Soul Food , relates the story of a community called “Colored Town” the people are dependent on each in a world where racism and oppression. Soul Food is a more modern period were in 1990 in a street in Chicago. The problem was “Big Mama” had diabetes that caused the whole family to stop cooking every Sunday dinner. Tortilla Soup is a remake of Eat Drink Man Woman because they are both drama and comedy movies. At the beginning of the both movies, they have two master chefs who are the owner of their restaurant. In Tortilla Soup the introduction of the film shows the food by representing how the food is prepared to cook at his house. The food present is Spanish food with a different way of cooking. In Eat Drink Man Woman, the introduction of the film by the master chef cooks his Chinese preparation with fish and chicken in the first clip of the movie. The representation of the food shows the visual of cutting, sliding and types of food in the kitchen to the audience.     Did Vianne and daughter change with their physical and metaphysical meaning of transformation in the village during lent leading up to Easter?  Chocolat is a romance and drama film about a woman and her daughter who come to a small French Village that opens a chocolate shop. The protagonist is Vianne who is the owner of the shop and a mother. The shop always opens on Sundays and Vianne and her daughter are not religious, affecting the mayor who runs the town and villagers are uneasy to welcome them to their community. Eventually, the villagers embrace Vianne because of how she is helping their morality and rigidness.  When Vianne opens her chocolate shop, on Sunday hours. What is the Thanksgiving holiday? The holiday is a day for a group of people to celebrate that everyone is done with work, This holiday is often enjoyed with family members. In the custom of a holiday, in specific Thanksgiving, the food is often traditional like turkey, ham and mashed potatoes. Does Thanksgiving relate to traditions, multiculturalism and ethnic identity in the film What’s Cooking?  In the film, four different ethnic families are Asian, African, Latin and Jewish. The four families have food traditions that correlate to their Thanksgiving. How do the four families prepare Thanksgiving? In each family, the women cook  Thanksgiving and the men watching football or relax in their living rooms. It looks like a basic Thanksgiving tradition.
