Tortilla Soup is a remake of Eat Drink Man Woman because they are both drama and comedy movies. At the beginning of the both movies, they have two master chefs who are the owner of their restaurant. In Tortilla Soup the introduction of the film shows the food by representing how the food is prepared to cook at his house. The food present is Spanish food with a different way of cooking. In Eat Drink Man Woman, the introduction of the film by the master chef cooks his Chinese preparation with fish and chicken in the first clip of the movie. The representation of the food shows the visual of cutting, sliding and types of food in the kitchen to the audience. The main role of food in both foods is every Sunday, the two fathers cook a whole meal for their families. 

In both movies,  Tortilla Soup and Eat Drink Man Woman are two different ethic and racial, but they are similar because they have three daughters who are different personalities though the movie. The oldest  daughter is a religious chemistry teacher, the second older daughter is unmarried and the youngest daughter is unemployed and invisible. However, In Tortilla Soup one of the daughters who is unmarried is very talented at cooking. She wants to show her father that she wants to cook in his restaurant. The magical thing is that the father can taste and smell her food because he announced that he wants to date and remarry with the lady who has the kid. He wants to be the father again. So, the role of food can apply in both movies. The role of the food can express and show characters emotions and personality change by eating the food in Tortilla Soup and Eat Drink Man Woman. Also the both films have both master chefs who know how to cook already. They can pass on their knowledge of food to change over the generations through both movies. Yet, food recipes can change character development and the story line.
