Did Vianne and daughter change with their physical and metaphysical meaning of transformation in the village during lent leading up to Easter? Chocolat is a romance and drama film about a woman and her daughter who come to a small French Village that opens a chocolate shop. The protagonist is Vianne who is the owner of the shop and a mother. The shop always opens on Sundays and Vianne and her daughter are not religious, affecting the mayor who runs the town and villagers are uneasy to welcome them to their community. Eventually, the villagers embrace Vianne because of how she is helping their morality and rigidness.
When Vianne opens her chocolate shop, on Sunday hours. She always welcomes the villagers to come inside and taste her delicious chocolate. By introducing the villagers to her shop, more people came to look inside and taste chocolate. The store has many Mayan culture items because of a family's tradition and culture. She has a Mayan is a ritual art on the walls and shafts. Vianne has a small casket vault for her mother that she always carries when she has to travel. When she had to travel with the wind to find a new place to live. When the wind is heavy, Vianne listens to her ancestors.
When villagers are visiting the shop, the mayor is envious of Vianne because he wants the shop to be closed before Easter. He believes and listens to God and his action will cause Vianne to leave the town. Meanwhile, Vianne helps some villagers with their relationship like a pharmacist to prescribe their treatment. Vianne helps some villagers with their physical attainment and sharing by eating chocolate. The most important is Vianne helping Josephine with her abusive relationship and Josephine having a better mindset and working with Vianne at the shop.
In conclusion, Vianne and her daughter are staying and found a place for a home. Vianne did transform the village during lent up to Easter because she helped the villagers' physical and metaphysical relationship though the film.
